This article was taken from usatoday.com. It talks about the H1N1 flu vaccine becoming available to the public on October 5. They will distribute six to seven million doses of the nasal spray vaccine and forty million doses of the injectable vaccine. The federal government has spent 900 million dollars to make sure this get distributed to the nation. This vaccine will also be distributed based on the population of the state. It is essentially free to get vaccinated but clinics can chose to charge a fee.
Ever since the H1N1 flu has become nationally known, people have been controlled by it. It has influenced the way think when we go out to public places. We think about things we touch that could possibly have this virus living on it. We wash our hands more often and hope that the person we are next too doesn’t have this virus. The media has been a big part in this control. They’ve instilled this fear in us and have made it a huge deal. Some schools have closed in fear that the virus will spread rapidly. If the clinics choose to charge a fee for this, they will be controlling who will be able to receive it. Not everyone can afford this so they will not be able to receive an important vaccine just because they don’t have the necessary means to do so. This affects their health and can even die if they contract this disease just because they couldn’t afford to get the vaccine.
