Raul Aranda post 10

This article comes from The Big Money and concerns the idea of getting rid of paper receipts over electronic receipts. The article goes to talk about how Apple first offered him to e-mail him his receipt and from there he has always wanted to not have to deal with paper receipts anymore. The article says that there is nothing against receipts, but the fact that the little piece of paper has to be stored amongst hundreds of other little papers and when the time comes to find it, it is at times very difficult to do. What the article attempts to make is that paper receipts can be extremely difficult to file away and find at later times, so electronic receipts are in all our best interests. He goes to say that store needs our e-mail addresses in order to do this, but instead of having to say your e-mail at every different store you go to that instead that information could be put on one’s credit cards. The idea seems good in thought, making organizing things quite easier, but after reading Parenti’s Soft Cage, it seems to me that this would just be another piece that could be used in tracking our every move. Of course this could already be done with credit cards regardless if we were e-mailed our receipt or got a paper one, but by paying in cash did not leave such an easy trail to follow. If receipts are e-mailed it will make pretty much become a necessity to give your e-mail address, thus allowing you to be easily tracked even if you do your best to not leave an electronic trail. I say this because it becomes a bit nerve wrecking that no matter what you do, there always seems to be a way to track you even if you did nothing wrong. If someone desires to find you, the can with all these electronic trails that we leave behind in our society.
