In moblie Alabama, a family finally has closure on a murder-mystery that happened almost 30 years ago.In 1980, a woman was killed in a jealous rage by her boyfriend. Since that time, neither the family nor police knew the suspect's whereabouts. Police said new technology helped track the suspect down. The detective on the case said the man committed several violent crimes across Gulf Coast. The victim's niece said growing up, she vowed to get justice.Police said John Pulmas shot and killed 31-year-old James after she tried to break off their relationship. Pulmas tracked her down to her mother's home where the victim refused to come out."Some witness said they saw Mr. Pulmas go into his vehicle and get a gun. He proceeded to come back to the residence door and shot through the door. At that time Ms. James was actually putting the latch on the door. She was hit in the thigh area and in the abdomen area. Her mother, Ms. Mable, was actually in the living room. She gets shot in the arm. He practically shoots her arm off, and she plays dead," Detective Ronald Wallace said.Police said Pulmas was arrested, but skipped town after bonding out of jail."It showed he had been arrested in Wichita Falls, Texas under the assumed name Johnny Robinson with a totally new social security number," Wallace said.
Pulmas assumed a new identity, but Wallace was able to find the suspect with new technology. He cross-referenced fingerprints and tracked down leads through the IRS.
"He moved to Alexandria, Louisiana where he dated another female and became deacon of a church, sort of the same situation. He shot her in the back of the head twice with a .22 pistol. He did shoot her one more time in the jaw and the bullet did get lodged in her jaw," Wallace said.Wallace determined Pulmas, aka Robinson, then fled to Pineville."He went to a friend's house and committed suicide, and shot himself," he said."My family and I have closure. It wasn't the closure I was looking for because I wanted him to pay for what he's done," said James. But James said now she can rest a little easier, knowing this violent man can't harm anyone else."I'm at peace now, her children are at peace now. I'm quite sure she's looking down from heaven saying job well done," concluded James.
I think it is crazy that this guy recieved a bond after killing is girlfriend. It also is amazing that someone can change his name and his social security number so easily and have no body know where this man went after bond. Also why didn't the bail bonds men try to find him or law enforcement. And again he killed another women. When you hear case such of these, you ask yourself where is the social control in these cases and why does it take so long. Many crimes have a statue of limitation and differ state by state. Law enforcement and the criminal justice system need to take more charge especially on violent crimes.
