This article comes from MSNBC.com and was updated on Wednesday October 21,2009.
This article talks about how the Food and Drug Administration know about the effectiveness and safety of some of these drugs and just not including them. The FDA is fighting these allegations and saying that the manufactures are the ones that print the labels but the FDA must approve the final label. One example is the drug Lunesta. It only helps you fall asleep 15 minutes faster then other sleep aids. and Zometa for osteoporosis could damage a cancer patients kidney and raise their risk of death. the problem with his is that event he doctors that are giving you these drugs have no idea of some of the side effects that may occur. This is a form of social control because every drug has to get the FDA's approval before it can be sold on the market. This means that everyone including the FDA and the drug companies are in this market on to strictly make money and it doesn't matter the cost to the public or the doctors that are administering the drugs.
