This article is regarding Obama's healthcare reform, which I was completely 100% for until I read this article.
The article is discussing the trade off the White house had to make in order to push healthcare. This involved no longer financing abortions and a long range of other women’s reproductive health through this reform. Their response was that they would have to fight for women's rights another day in order to push this reform and get the republicans approval.
What this has to do with social control is abortions cost money and those without money will now no longer have the means to afford an abortion if this act goes through. This will steam the teen pregnancy epidemic even more then it already is. This will also only burden the people with low SES because they will be forced to have a baby that will end up costing even more money in the long run. It's sad to see that President Obama is not pushing this issue further and fighting for it, it really shattered my hopes for the health care reform.
