Social Control
C. Olson
I found this article from Foxnews.com. Basically a British Plastic Surgeon married a woman and then sculpted her to look like what he wanted. She apparently had the potential to look better, because he only married her if she wanted to go through with the plastic surgery. Before they got married Reza Vossough hated the way his 33 year old girlfriend looked but thought she had "potential". So after eight operations, that fixed her thighs, face, chest and eyes, changing the size of her breasts from A's to F's and fixing the little things like her lips. He spent over 29,736 dollars to fall in love with his wife. His wife though not mad, but thrilled to look like this for her husband. This article i think shows social control by how the world has shown this image of how we need to look. Women need to be "perfect" to fit in this world. Small waist, big breasts, and with every small thing fixed. Reza was just following the world, and how everyone wants this "perfect" body. No one will ever be perfect, and all that will eventually go away, and marrying his wife only because he thinks he can fix her is sad, but to marry someone because you love who they are is considered deviant i guess nowadays. People, the world has shown us this image but why must we fold to it?
