This article was found in the November 12th issue of the Albuquerque Journal.PNM, New Mexico's largest utility provider, is now on Twitter. The utility company believes that through Twitter they will better be able to share important information with New Mexicans. PNM plans to provide information concerning utility outages that may affect a large number of citizens as well as tips on how to become more energy efficient. It is still not certain how effective and how many people this may actually reach but a spokesperson claims that customers ought to be informed when things like outages occur and this provides another outlet for the information to be passed along. Individuals may access PNM's tweets without having a Twitter account and those with Twitter accounts may choose to follow PNMTalk and choose to receive PNM's tweets by text or by email.

This article shows that businesses as well as individuals are communicating via Twitter. Social networking sites have become all too common and seem to be a way that businesses may control the information that their customers are exposed to. This site, while may be used to control what business information their customers are exposed to, by providing tips for individuals to become more energy efficient may help individuals to better control their utility expenses. PNM looks to be using Twitter to attract new customers as well, it seems that they will be promoting their services as well. So where it may seem that PNM is looking to provide their customers another way to access information, PNM may also be looking to reaffirm the fact that they are the dominant utility provider in New Mexico and by attracting more customers they will be able to obtain further control over the market within the State.
